Although it’s a big internet out there, the Tabletop digital universe is pretty small and spread out. In Content We Liked, we take a look at the articles, videos, podcasts, and products that caught our eyes or were noteworthy during the prior week you might have missed.
On the Internet at Large
Starting this week’s column off on a grim, and some might say dark note with this kitbashed foot knight from Ne Cede Malis on Instagram. An excellent little kitbash for use in Pillage, this armoured chappy manages to nail a very fine line between fantasy and historical, feeling very much at home in both. The limited tones of the figure contrasting against the snow-covered foliage of a base is an excellent touch as well, lending such striking gothic vibes to his whole deal.
Needlepointed Monolith Game Board by Trish Carden
You know we could really just start a running section of this column dedicated to Trish Carden’s needlepoint masterpieces. Like goddamn just click through and look at it, from the swirling stream to the jutting standing stones, Trish’s work captures such a powerful storybook illustration feel, a timeless fantasy aesthetic. Dreamlike and tangible at the same time. Exquisite.
The Crabnought is complete!
byu/Icebucket_Prime inWarhammer40k
Its been a while since we last indulged in some Crustacean fascination, but here comes Icebucket Prime on Reddit with this spectacular example of committing to an incredibly silly bit. This thing looks absolutely spot on, like it belongs as a piece of the 40k setting. That its resemblance to a crab is entirely incidental. It rocks so damn ahrd and that’s just the conversion itself, then you get to the gorgeously saturated orange-red of its armour and the dozens of tiny lil’ crabby pals dotted around its base and holy damn it kicks so much ass. A+ commitment.
Now we don’t use the term “pinnacle of Hobby Excellence” lightly, but what else would suffice to describe this ode to the peak of Human Expression that is Three Wolf Moon? Anything else would be objectively criminal, a spiritual crime against wolf shirt wearers everywhere.
