Content We Liked, May 1st, 2022

Although it’s a big internet out there, the Warhammer digital universe is pretty small and spread out. In Content We Liked, we take a look at the articles, videos, podcasts, and products that caught our eyes or were noteworthy during the prior week you might have missed.

On the Internet at Large

Black Templars Sword Brethren

A beautifully executed set of Sword Brethren, nicely showcasing the detail from the new kit.

Quatre Bras Historical Mega Battle
Blog – With Pyjamas through a whiff of grapeshot!

Historical players are still years ahead of the rest of us in terms of putting a million models down and making it look awesome, as this battle proves.

The Glotkin
lanadaminiatures on Instagram

I think Chaos is at its best when it hammers home the theme of corrupted majesty, and this Glotkin conversion does an amazing job of that.

Death Guard Plague Marine

Sticking on the Nurgle theme, this is just a really, really nice job on a simple model

Grey Knights Dreadnought/Knight Conversion
@dehoofdwerker on Twitter

Arcane robot technology doesn’t come fancier than this!
(Note that when I was compiling this from the feed of suggestions on our Discord, no fewer than three people had separately linked this, it’s that good!).

Nuln Oil Knight
morose.miniatures on Instagram.

The description of this claims that it isn’t the hero we need, which sounds fake to me – truly there is no greater hobby hero than a pot of Nuln.

Shadow Spectres
@diablo1988911 on Twitter

A super cool job on a unit of Shadow Spectres, really using the dynamism of the scults.

Vampire Lord
@1927822LE on Twitter

A jaw-dropping Vampire lord conversion and diorama.

Dark Angels Ancient
thesammcarr on Instagram

I’ve seen a lot of beautiful Primaris Ancients in my time but this may actually be the best, the work on the sword and banner are nothing short of astonishing.

Star Wars Terrain
u/BZNintendo on Reddit

A collection of tables that bring a wide range of iconic movie scenes to life on a spectacular scale.

Sigvald the Magnificent
@SpongiePaint on Twitter

An exquisite job on one of the coolest models GW produce.

Innovative Army Packing Technique
@Jackwarmstrong

A never before seen innovation in the art of getting models to places.

This Week on Goonhammer

The public beta for Administratum is now open, so if you’re looking for the ultimate solution for tracking your Crusade campaigns, go signt up!

Reviews

Our team took a look at two new releases this week:

Warhammer 40K

This week we’ve had a series of posts from our friends over at Art of War taking a look at how some of their favourite factions will fare now the new Balance Dataslate is upon us. Plus, Rob and

Rob and Mike have also gotten in on the action, taking a look at how things are looking for the Thousand Sons

Competitive Innovations (which Rob kindly helped out with after real life got in the way for me, normal service resuming this week!) also took our regular look at what’s performing on the tournament scene.

If you’re rubbing your claws together with glee about the swarms about to be unleashed on the metagame, and want yours to be particularly shiny, check out our updated How To Paint Everything for Tyranids.

This month’s White Dwarf brought us some more Flashpoint Crusade rules, which Beanith took a look at, exploring what happens when you get really, really holy.

Plenty of our contributors are also getting ready for various events, especially the US Open, and we’ve got a bumper crop of progress updates this week.

Age of Sigmar

Competitive Innovations had a busy week on the Sigmar side as well, and I believe the contents somehow relate to Mike being spammed with pictures of turtles in our planning chat earlier this week.

Hammer of Math also took a stop in the Mortal Realms, taking a look at the notorious Vanguard-Raptors.

Finally, Games Workshop blessed us with some Battletome FAQs for Fyreslayers and Deepkin, so check out the implications in our hot take.

Other Games

Necromunday this week showcased Bair’s sinister Cawdor gang.

Malifaux received a massive errata update this week, which Togepi took a detailed look at

Unstable Mutation takes a look at the Brokers preconstructed deck from New Capenna, for anyone out there who’s a fan of cats wearing people clothes.

Everything Else

Guest author Count Numbers brings us a review and retrospective on the Sharpe TV series, talking about the Napoleonic Wars in which it’s set and how the series portrays it.

Last, and probably least for anyone with taste and decency, Greg has further pushed back the boundaries of what Meatwatch is allowed to cover. Enjoy, I guess.

That’s all for this week, stay tuned to Goonhammer for another week of fantastic content, coming right up.
