The Las Vegas Open is one of the biggest events of year on the US wargaming and hobbyist calendar, and Goonhammer is proud to announce the return of our annual Road to LVO feature, this year as an expanded series of articles highlighting the preparations and personal journeys of a number of different players across a variety of different games as they walk their personal roads to the Las Vegas Open.
In addition, we’re happy to announce that this year the Road to LVO feature will be sponsored by Frontline Gaming. FLG is an online retailer and tournament organizer, responsible for some of the largest tabletop gaming events in the world, including the Las Vegas Open. This year’s event, Las Vegas Open XII, will feature more games than ever across three times the space, with bigger community events and activities from painting to modeling to playing, an expanded vendor hall, and for the first time, trading card game tournaments hosted at the show. Their support helps make documenting these journeys possible.
The Road to LVO begins today with Warhammer 40K tournament player Ben Jurek’s first steps towards Las Vegas, and will continue weekly, following Ben, Alice “RagnarokAngel” Lirette (Age of Sigmar), Dan “Swiftblade” Richardson (Kill Team), and “Contemptor” Kevin Stillman (hobbyist courses). Alice and Kevin are LVO veterans, having written about their experiences at the event previously for the site; for Dan, this will be his first time at the Las Vegas Open. All four of them are excited to embark on this journey, and we hope to see you there alongside them this October in Las Vegas!
