[AOS] RagnarokAngel’s Road to LVO 2025: Part 3

This year’s Road to LVO series is sponsored by Frontline Gaming.

A lot’s been going on in my personal life so this is gonna be a smaller one. This entry I attended an RTT to try and see how I do with Ossiarch Bonereapers. I went to the TJ’s Cafe and Games in Milford, which I highly recommend if you’re in the Central Massachusetts area.

As a reminder, here’s my list

I  meant to change the battle tactics but absent mindedly just pasted in my list from Tacoma, not thinking about it. Not a big deal, it gave me another shot to try and see if I need to change battle tactics.

For this mission we played Bountiful Equinox. Joe had all Stonehorns, which I’ve fought before. They always charge further than you expect, and hit harder than you expect. So since he had more regiments I got to decide and I went first. I wanted to move up and get myself set up in the middle, both to score on objectives and get my first battle tactic for both my cards.

I moved up, used Supreme lord of the Bonereaper Legions to buff saves and then castled up in the middle. Joe got a little nervous with my huge castle and held back a bit and honestly that probably what got him in the end. I was able to slowly carve up each Stonehorn one by one. While he did bring some of the Big Pig RoR to try and catch me on the left flank and steal my objective, I was able to send my Stalkers to deal with them and keep the Immortis Guard, Katakros and the Archai on the Stonehorns in the middle.

It did get messy, I didn’t have a ton of models left by the end but I managed to defeat everything by the end and pulled a pretty solid victory.

Victory – 60 – 49

This time we played Roiling Roots. I didn’t know what to make of this list as I hadn’t really fought Slaanesh this edition. Ultimately I made a bunch of tactical errors that pretty much finished me off.

I moved my Archai up to try and steal both objectives in the middle. This was a huge mistake because it put them in archer and Shardspeaker range. He also dropped his Fiendbloods in behind me within easy charging distance of my Wizards and easy to steal my objective from behind me which negated the entire point of trying to steal the center objectives.

After that it moved pretty quickly. He charged my wizards (using the terrain piece to shuffle up despite my -2 to charge penalty) and beat on them pretty good, and the Shardspeaker hit my Archai with the -1 to save which actually made their archers pretty scary. So once he charged in the middle with his Slickblade Seekers I just didn’t have very many models left to deal with that and I conceded by round 3.

Important lessons learned and this is where I definitely knew the Attuned to Ghyran had to go. It’s not much good moving to the middle if there’s no objective there.

Loss – 14- 80

We cap it off with Linked Ley-Lines and a Mortarch-off. I was tied with Justin on regiments so we had a roll off and I won so I had him go first. He played it a bit cagey, moving some Cryptguard up largely staying back. I wanted to get up into the middle as usual and get set up, so I scooted everyone up and decided to try some long distance charges on a lark. I absolutely killed it. Three charge rolls of 8 or better. I shrugged and decided cowbabunga it is. So I charged up and mulched some Morbheg knights and the Cryptguard, definitely rolling above average.

I then rolled off for round 2 and saw the other Morbheg knights waiting in the wings so I decided I have to take the double now. I seized the initiative to push further and pick up more of his stuff. When it was his turn I was blessed with some of the best dice luck I’ve ever seen, my Archai were surrounded and took swings from Ushoran, Morbheg Knights, Cryptflayers and Varghoulf Courtier and only lost one model. They were able to clap back and pick up Ushoran on the swing back at which point I just dismantled what was left and we called it.

The Last Thing a Ghoul Sees

Victory 66-20

What’s Next?

So I definitely need to change my battle tactics. I can score the first 1 on each card easy but then it becomes difficult to get the rest of them. I’ll likely replace it with Intercept and Recover (the easy choice) and maybe keep Wrathful cycles as I’m almost always guaranteed to go first (taking more objectives from my opponent). Either way Attuned to Ghyran has gotta go.

Since I’ve decided to stick to OBR and not go with Soulblight I’m gonna take some time to rebuild my Morghast Archai and my Terrain piece with new models. My Morghast have taken some damage in transport over time, being pretty spindly and so just over time pieces have broken off and they’re definitely worse for the wear. My terrain piece needs a whole redo since it got absolutely eviscerated over time (I’ll tell you more about that next time, it’s quite a story).

So my new article will be a hobby report on what I’m painting up to replace my dinged up old stuff. Hopefully I’ll see you next time!
