The Best Year in Gaming: 1982 vs. 2018

Welcome back to our Best Year in Gaming March Madness bracket competition! Yesterday we looked at 1979 – a surprisingly good year and the start of some great arcade games – against 1996, an incredibly stacked year featuring some amazing games on PC and consoles. 1979 put up a good fight as arguably the best year of the 70s, but 1996 was just too stacked.

Result: 1996 beats 1979

Today we’re looking at 2018 vs. 1982

VS.

This time around we have what I think is a closer competition than people realize. 1982 had some incredible games, including Donkey Kong, one of the all-time great arcade games, and Ms. Pac-Man, the definitive version of the Pac-Man arcade experience.

In the opposing corner, 2018 makes a case for being the best year in board games history with some really solid entries, plus a number of great tabletop releases.
