Last Weekend’s Events

Only a couple of events this past weekend but they were doozies! We’ve got the Battle for Maryland 40k teams event (I was at this one!) and the Goonhammer Open in Canada (I was not at this one but this is pretty cool too). Let’s start with the latter.

Goonhammer Open CA

(Winnipeg, MB)

Logan Antonation walked away with the belt this past weekend using Tau with absolutely no Crisis Suits. Logan went 6-0 with a list that featured two riptides, a couple of hammerheads, and a whole bunch of piranhas (and a tetra) for support. Just goes to show you didn’t need those cyclic ion blasters anyway.

Logan with his sick new belt.

It’s worth noting as well that our very own James “Boon” Kelling got second at the event, going 5-1 with his Aeldari. Boon has since been imprisoned in the Shame Cube until such time that Goonhammer Overlord Rob “The Chirurgeon” Jones deems fit. Logan also spared Canada the shame of one of their coveted spots at the Warhammer World Championships going to an American.

  1. Logan Antonation (Northern Front) – Tau
  2. James Kelling (Goonhammer) – Aeldari
  3. Justin Signer-Delorme (Northern Front) – Death Guard

Battle for Maryland

(Westminster, MD)

Hammer’s Slammers, a Team Battle Brothers team won the event, going 5-0 with a team consisting of: Larry Oliver playing Vanguard Onslaught tyranids featuring 20 Genestealers and a Norn Assimilator, Mark Hertel playing Ultramarines with Calgar coming to play and 3 Land Raiders, and Mike Taylor playing an artillery guard list with triple hellhound support. Congrats to the team for the win.

Much more importantly though Team Goonhammer got third and managed to snag Best Overall. Now I myself only won 2 games but I was also mostly there to look pretty and play some warhammer so I’m gonna call that trophy earned. We had: Scott Horras “Heresy” with his triple Rogal Dorn Imperial Guard list with some help from their good friend Canis Rex, Shane Watts playing Jackal heavy world eaters supported by a daemon prince on foot, and myself, “Mild”Norman Greenberg playing Chaos Knights with 6 brigands, 4 Karnivores, and a Rampager.

I’m so proud of my sweet babies

  1. Hammer’s Slammers (Team Battle Brothers) – Tyranids, Imperial Guard, Adeptus Astartes
  2. Warham Slamwich – Asuryani, Grey Knights, Death Guard
  3. Goonhammer – Imperial Guard, World Eaters, Chaos Knights
