Warlord Wednesdays: Battlebling Warbreaker Titan Review

Welcome back to Goonhammer’s series for aspiring Titan Principes. We here at Goonhammer’s own Collegia Titanica know that Adeptus Titanicus can seem intimidating to players unfamiliar with its particular quirks, but this series aims to equip you with everything you’ll need to play out epic clashes on the battlefields of the far future with your very own Titan Battlegroup.

Battlebling are a third party provider of bases, nameplates and other bits for your God-Engines, some of which we’ve covered earlier. They’ve provided us with a prototype model to review and share our first impressions of their first complete model release, the Warbreaker Titan.

The Warbreaker is huge 3rd party model with no official* rules, who is this for?
Let’s clear the air – we all know what this is meant to be.

*I’ve heard that some of the AT YouTube channels and podcasts are developing a community terminal for it

Even since the return of Adeptus Titanicus in 2018, there has always been a giant elephant* in the room. Will Games workshop ever release an Imperator model?
*or God-Engine, I suppose

Despite Epic having one back in the day, general wisdom has been said no. The Imperator is the peak of Warhammer impracticality and madness – it would never see the gaming table due to the size of game required to start making sense having one present.

That hasn’t stopped some people wanting one or making their own conversions.

Enter the Warbreaker.

Slightly taller than a 28mm Warhound, it has more in common with Forgeworld’s Titans than just size.

  • This is a centrepiece model, incredibly detailed and will take some serious commitment to get assembled and painted up to a standard that you are happy with.
  • It’s destined to spend most of it’s time living in a display case. When it does see the table it will be part of a narrative scenario or campaign that you’ve planned in advance with your group and that shit will be memorable.
  • It comes in at 295£ shipped, which is reasonable for what you are getting – compared with a 28mm Warhound at the same size, but will be out of reach for many.

The audience for this product is a niche within in a niche.
For those who are in that subset, this is what you’ve been waiting for.

At the time of writing, I shamefully haven’t managed to finish the painting it up due to the NoVA Open, but can give you an idea on what it’s like to put one together.

Edit: Update – I finished it baybee. It’s glorious

The model is just over 14” high and weighs just under 2Kg, so I would suggest pinning at the hip joint and the shoulder joint. With this done it feels like it would do more damage to the thing it falls on rather than itself.

Despite being such a big project, I found the assembly straight forward as the build itself is intuitive and I didn’t have to spend downtime on clipping it from sprue/gates/etc. If you’ve put a few AT titans together, I think you could probably do it easily enough without the instructions.

200+ resin bits

Like Battlebling’s other offerings, it is made from 3D printed resin. The 220~ parts come pre-cleaned with most supports removed. The combination of print quality and design means that you won’t have any prominent print lines or divots from supports on visible areas which you would have to sand.

Being resin, safety precautions do need to be taken when/if you do need to drill/sand or cut it – ideally outside with a respirator on.

The part pictured above is the lower leg section, where you can see where the supports were (not visible when assembled, so I left alone) and where it has been hollowed out to save on weight and resin.

The Warbreaker’s custom coffin ship

I’d suggest leaving the cathedral as a separate bit, allowing for easier transport.

There are some prime diorama opportunities here, paired with some old Epic minis or modern stand-ins from Vanguard minis. I’m going to scatter some across the 8″ cutting board which I’m using as a base as well as the decks and within the head which does open up.
I look forward to seeing what some people get up to with the kit.

How do you get your hands on one?

Given that it takes so long to print the 200+ bits, Battlebling are doing them made to order for the next 12~ hours. So if you’ve got a burning hole in your pocket, now is the time.

If you are reading this in the future, with any luck there will be more opportunities to get in on this to round out your collection or to use in your own crazy narrative missions.
