The stompy baby knights haven’t had quite as much joy recently but they still present a serious stat check for an awful lot of armies, and have solid output and reach to go toe-to-toe in the hardest matches. Nurglings shore up the scoring and early board presence, and the ability to run through walls opens up options on any board you find yourself on. Really well done on the event win!

Thoughts
The all-in infantry experiment for Custodes is in retreat, as a bunch of armies loaded up on tanks and guns and started answering the question those builds were asking. As such the Caladius finds it way back into fashion, as an excellent gun tank, backfield screener, and space denier in the midboard once it starts roaming forward. I think builds like this have more game into a wider range of match ups at the expense of raw stat checking power, but you still get an awful lot of foot guys in here as well. Excellent work.

Thoughts
Canoptek Court remain a force to be reckoned with, and this build takes a note out of the Josh Roberts playbook and leaves the C’tan at home in favour of even more stuff. Szeras brings added durability and helps the massed Immortals to sing, and wrestling the primary off of these guys is simply too big an ask for a lot of the game right now. Really well done on the top placing.

Thoughts
Look, sometimes the way to beat guns is with more guns. Two absolute heavyweights of the ranged variety throwdown in this showdown, which pits the ‘Dark Angels’, who add their utter dependence on the Ironstorm detachment to the list of things they feel shifty and guilty about, against the Astra Militarum, who aren’t a good army apparently, but seem to keep showing up in my column a lot anyway. Rogal Dorns offer a much more direct shooting take on Guard, rather than the behind a wall variety, but on the other side the double Dangels Stormravens bring serious heavy lifting, durability and -1 damage of their own.
It’s a straight shootout, and I’m loathe to say its a first turn roll off number as I don’t know enough about the terrain and how the armies deployed, but it certainly feels like whichever of these nasty gunlines goes to work first is going to have a serious advantage. As it is, the Ironstorm blasted their way to a hard earned victory here.

Double Stormraven Isn’t Real, It Can’t Hurt You
Thoughts
Ironstorm shoot incredibly hard. Stormravens can get interesting angles and require an ungodly amount of energy to take down, and with a Darkshroud / Triple Redemptor follow up this list is extremely well placed to donkey punch you straight out the gate and then weather any attempts at a fightback with a chortle before finishing the job. A really, really brutal take on Ironstorm that leverages raw durability as well as sheer output. Congratulations on the win Cam!

Thoughts
Tau have plugged away as one of the underappreciated heavy weights in an increasingly shooty meta, as Necrons and Custodes force other armies to reach for the long distance delete button. The Hammerheads in this build give it excellent consistency into heavy armour as well as into elite infantry, with Riptides and Breachers rounding out the gunline to cause enormous damage. Less by way of shenanigans here (not a Ghostkeel in sight), just raw output and brutal efficiency. Very well done.

Another fairly standard Canoptek build here, but I do like the cheeky Deathmark squads for utility and additional MSU action. Court have reasserted themselves as the strongest Necron flavour, after a mass dalliance with Hypercrypt after LVO. They’re an absolute menace and probably one of the armies you might see take a hit or two in the upcoming dataslate. In the meantime, it’s right to make hay, very well done on the win!!

The Wraithblades brick offers you a secure focal point as the elf nonsense does the rest, and Mandrakes bring their A* scoring potential over from Drukhari. GK are having a moment, and this list resists going all in on vehicles by complimenting the Dreadknight antics with a huge brick of Paladins. These shoot incredibly well, punch extremely hard, and give you a midfield anchor that can redeploy on a whim to wreak havoc in the opposing lines. I really like the overall balance of this build, well done on the win!
