The Best Year in Gaming: 1981 vs. 1993

Welcome back to our Best Year in Gaming March Madness bracket competition! Yesterday we saw 2001 take down 1974, finally punting the ’70s out of our bracket.

Result: 2001 Wins

Today we’re moving on to two very strong contenders, though for different reasons. We’re looking at 1981 vs. 1993.

VS.

There’s a ton to like about 1981; tons of great and important board games, great arcade games, tabletop games, and video games. It’s a year which kicks off the golden age of Dungeons & Dragons. On the other side of things 1993 is a phenomenal year for 16-bit video games on the Genesis and Super NES, but would also mark the debut of Warhammer 40k’s second edition and the release of a little game called Magic: the Gathering.
